TheKaleidescapeURCimplementationusesanIRconnectiontocontroltheKaleidescapemovie
player.KaleidescapechosethisconnectionmethodsinceallURChandsetscansendIRcodes
withoutanyadditionalhardwareandtheIRcodesprovidealltherequiredcontroloptions.
2.2 Connecting the IR-IN Port
TheIRoutputminijackfromanyURCsystemcontrollerorbasest
ationcanbepluggedintothe
IR‐INminijackontherearoftheKaleidescapemovieplayer.Internally,theIR‐INjackiswiredto
anemitteratthefrontoftheplayer—thereisnoneedtoplaceanIR“bug”onthefrontofthe
movieplayer
.TheconnectionontheURCsystemcontrollersandbasestationsisa3/32″(2.5mm)
monojack.TheconnectionontheKaleidescapeplayerisa1/8″(3.5mm)monojack.Youcan
buildacustomcable,oruseaRadioShackadapter(partnumber274‐328)toconvertthe3/32″
monojacktoa1/
8″monojack,anduseastandard1/8″monocable.
ItisalsopossibletocontroltheKaleidescapeplayerviathefrontpanelIRreceiver.Thiscanbe
donedirectlyfromthehandset’sIRemitter,orusingtheIRFrontBlasteronsupportedbase
stations.
